The University of the Virgin Islands men's basketball team reached a milestone Wednesday night, taking on NCAA Division I opponent North Florida in an exhibition game that marked the first time the program has faced a Division I team.
The Buccaneers fell 86-74 in the matchup, but the result was secondary to the historic nature of the competition itself. The game represented a significant step forward for UVI basketball on the national stage.
