Cathyoliva O. Richards, a long-serving journalist at Japhix Entertainment (JTV), has been instructed to leave the British Virgin Islands within 30 days by Governor Daniel Pruce following her conviction on a charge of uttering forged documents.

The Guyanese national, who has spent more than a decade working in the territory as a senior reporter since 2016, received a two-year suspended prison sentence from Justice Angelica Teelucksingh on January 16, 2026. The deportation order, issued under Statutory Instrument 2026 NO. 63 and dated October 20, 2026, was published in the Official Gazette on October 22, 2026.

Richards must vacate the territory within 30 days of receiving the order and is prohibited from returning.

The case originated from work permit renewal paperwork filed with the Department of Labour and Workforce Development in 2021. Richards faced the charges alongside production assistant Hitesh Yadram, who was acquitted.
