The BVI Ports Authority announced Wednesday that the Road Town Jetty Building will be unavailable for five days beginning Sunday, November 1, to undertake essential health, safety and preventative maintenance.
Throughout the closure period ending Thursday, November 5, the West End Ferry Terminal will handle all international ferry movements. His Majesty's Customs and Immigration Department will conduct clearance at that location.
Inbound passengers must land at West End, complete their immigration and customs formalities, and arrange onward transport. Those on the day's last ferry will disembark there with baggage, clear customs and immigration, then reboard the same vessel to reach Road Town, where they will exit at the domestic jetty section.
Outbound travellers are instructed to go directly to West End Ferry Terminal for their international departures and to complete all exit procedures there. The Authority recommended that passengers allow extra time for these temporary arrangements.
The closure serves as a safeguard to remedy specific issues and ensure a secure setting for staff, passengers and facility visitors. BVIPA is liaising with government departments and ferry companies to limit passenger impact.
The facility is scheduled to return to normal operation Friday, November 6, pending successful completion of maintenance and confirmation that it meets safety standards. The public should check the Authority's official channels for any further announcements.
