Beyoncé Defreitas of the British Virgin Islands took silver in the women's 200 metres at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, crossing the line in 23.36 seconds.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the Territory's track programme. Defreitas is the first BVI sprinter to qualify for back-to-back 200-metre finals at the CAC Games.
The BVI Olympic Committee praised the performance, saying Defreitas had "done the BVI exceptionally proud." The medal comes as her competitive season winds down.
