A 19-year-old student, Demetri Pierre, was found dead from a gunshot wound at his family residence in Maracas Bay, Trinidad and Tobago, on the night of October 20, 2026.
According to police, Pierre's 43-year-old father arrived home at approximately 7:45 p.m. and placed his licensed Glock 9mm pistol on a countertop before going to the bathroom. The father then heard a loud gunshot and went toward the sound, where he found his 21-year-old daughter attempting to enter his son's locked bedroom.
When the father forced the door open, he discovered his son lying on the bed with a gunshot injury to his head. The father's licensed Glock pistol was found beside the teenager, who had been alone in the room. Police arrived at the scene around 7:53 p.m., and Pierre was transported to Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:24 p.m.
Investigators found a note and the Glock pistol near the teenager upon arrival and confiscated both items. Police also seized multiple additional firearms from the father, including a 12-gauge shotgun, a Sig Sauer rifle, and a second Glock pistol, along with ammunition.
The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities said additional details would be released as the case progresses.
