A member of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force was stabbed while trying to break up a fight in the Newtown area of St. Kitts on Saturday, October 3rd, the SKNDF said in a statement.
The soldier, who plays in the SKNDF Band, was off duty and socializing with members of the Nu vybes Band when he noticed a scuffle involving several young people. He stepped in to separate those involved, but was stabbed during the intervention.
The soldier was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, where he had emergency surgery. He remains in stable condition, the Defence Force said.
The SKNDF said it has shared information about the incident with the appropriate authorities and that the investigation is ongoing. The Force commended the off-duty soldier for his "courage, commitment, and sense of duty demonstrated" and extended support to him and his family, wishing him a full recovery.
