Social commentator Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline has publicly endorsed retired civil servant Jovita Mercer-Scatliffe as a candidate for the House of Assembly's District Six seat, saying she has the qualities needed to win the constituency.

Skelton-Cline, who hosts the radio show Honestly Speaking, made the endorsement on the October 13 episode of his programme titled 'Political Molestation'. He described Mercer-Scatliffe as someone who possesses "a tremendous gift in grace" and has worked in public office.

"She can take the Sixth on the right team," Skelton-Cline said, indicating he believes her electoral success would depend on which political party she runs with.

The commentator also signalled plans to expand his political recommendations. He said if the House of Assembly votes to increase the number of elected officials to 15, he will publish a list of 15 people he believes voters should support in the next general election. Mercer-Scatliffe, he said, would be among them.

District Six is currently represented by Honourable Myron V. Walwyn.
