Clifton 'Tito' Forbes, running for Third District under the People's Leadership Movement banner, told residents on Saturday evening that he would tackle the territory's water shortage within three months if his party wins power.
At a gathering in Sea Cows Bay on October 17, Forbes framed the supply crisis as an urgent problem demanding immediate action. He posed direct questions to attendees: "How many of you had to buy water this year? How many of you have to take the bucket and bathe in it?" acknowledging the toll on households forced to seek alternative sources.
Forbes committed to mobilising his team to restore consistent flow to Third District homes during the first 90 days of a PLM administration. He also expressed hope the issue might be resolved before voters return to the polls, though he pledged to pursue solutions regardless of timing.
He is mounting a challenge against Julian Fraser, who has represented the district without interruption for 27 years since 1999.
Forbes built his campaign pitch around long-term community involvement. He highlighted decades spent in teaching, youth mentorship, sports support, cultural preservation and organising local activities. "My commitment to the people of this district did not begin with politics and it will not end with politics," he said, framing his candidacy as an extension of established service rather than a sudden political entry.
"My people, I am not a Johnny-come-lately. I repeat, I am not a Johnny-come-lately," he declared.
Beyond water, Forbes listed healthcare, education, job creation, environmental care and sustainable growth as key concerns. He also pledged action on air quality, waste handling and abandoned vehicles, emphasising practical problem-solving, openness and accountability as his governing approach.
