The Recovery and Development Agency presented updates on three major initiatives to members of the Rotary Club of Tortola at a luncheon held during Economic and Community Development Month.
Jeremy Hodge, who manages project planning and development at the RDA, spoke about the Agricultural Complex, a fisheries facility at Omar Hodge Fisher's Wharf, and improvements to DeCastro Street's pedestrian walkways in the capital.
The Agricultural Complex is intended to bolster farming across the territory. The fisheries venue at the wharf will serve operators in that industry and upgrade their working conditions. The sidewalk project targets pedestrian safety and comfort in Road Town.
Hodge explained how each scheme fits into the RDA's broader work on infrastructure, community resilience and economic growth. Rotarians asked questions and discussed how the projects might benefit residents, businesses and the wider population.
The RDA said such forums help keep the public informed about work underway and what residents can expect. The agency thanked the Rotary Club for hosting the event and said it plans to continue briefing community groups as these initiatives move forward across the islands.
