Grenada has delivered a decisive electoral victory to Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, with his National Democratic Congress projected to control 14 of the island's 15 parliamentary seats and secure him a second consecutive term in office.

The opposition New National Party managed to retain only one seat: St. George North West, won by Adrian Joseph, according to preliminary election-night tallies.

The scale of the NDC's triumph represents a substantial shift from Mitchell's first election victory. In June 2022, when the party ousted former Prime Minister Keith Mitchell after his nine-year tenure, the NDC held nine seats. The party has now more than doubled that parliamentary strength.

The result defies the NDC's earlier electoral pattern, in which the party had historically surrendered power after serving a single term. The opposition, now under the leadership of Emmalin Pierre, faces a significant reversal at the polls.

Mitchell's renewed mandate is expected to enable him to pursue priorities including economic growth, infrastructure development, healthcare expansion, education advancement and job creation. Final official results were awaited at the time of reporting.
