Premier Dr Natalio D. Wheatley has recommissioned the MV Vigilant to His Majesty's Customs fleet, the Premier's Office announced on October 1.

The vessel's return to service strengthens the Customs Department's ability to patrol, monitor and inspect ships across Virgin Islands waters and respond to suspected violations, according to the statement.

Wheatley, who also holds the portfolio for Customs, said the move reflects the Government's commitment to bolstering border management and equipping the department with the resources and operational capability needed to fulfil its duties.

His Majesty's Customs is one of the Territory's revenue-collecting departments and handles a substantial portion of the Government's annual income.
