Work is underway to transform Althea Scatliffe Primary School with a complete rebuild from the ground up, the Ministry of Education said in a Facebook update.

Minister for Education Hon. Sharie de Castro, Premier Hon. Dr. Natalio Wheatley, District Representative Hon. Kye Rymer and Dr. Sauda Smith from partnering organisation Unite BVI visited the site as crews cleared away the old foundation to prepare for the new structure.

A Modern Facility for the Future

The project aims to deliver a purpose-built, state-of-the-art school designed to serve the island's youngest learners. The Ministry acknowledged that building a modern facility from scratch takes time, but said each phase brings the territory closer to completing the school the community expects.

The leadership team expressed excitement about the project's progress during their on-site visit, according to the Ministry's statement.

What's Next

The Ministry said it will share updates on major milestones as construction continues. The rebuild represents a significant investment in education infrastructure across the British Virgin Islands, replacing an aging facility with a contemporary learning environment.

No timeline for completion was provided in the update.
