Construction crews have begun fixing the roof at the Nurse Iris O'Neal Clinic, Virgin Gorda's primary healthcare facility located in Valley.

The BVI Health Services Authority confirmed the start of the project via Facebook, noting that work should be finished within two and a half months, provided weather remains favourable and no unexpected problems arise.

The clinic has long suffered from roof damage resulting in water leaks and interruptions to patient services. The repair initiative is part of a wider programme to strengthen the facility and ensure residents receive dependable healthcare.

In August 2026, the Government of the Virgin Islands contracted Professional Roofing Ltd. for $562,100 to handle the modernisation and repair work. Officials stated: "We appreciate everyone's patience and support as the work continues. We look forward to sharing the completed project with you."

Once finished, the project is intended to restore the clinic's structural integrity and provide more stable healthcare delivery across the island.
