Four members of the Virgin Islands National Guard were recognized at a formal reception on Wednesday after completing an overseas deployment, with top territorial officials presiding over the tribute at Government House on St. Thomas.
The honorees were Sergeant Dante Haskins, Sergeant D-Ganric Callwood, Sergeant Chantwan Turnbull, and Sergeant Adjahni Morton, all serving with the 512th Movement Control Team. Governor Albert Bryan Jr. and Lt. Governor Tregenza A. Roach attended the event alongside Patrick Farrell, State Director of the Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs.
Addressing those assembled in the Government House ballroom, Governor Bryan said: "Today, we proudly welcome home these outstanding Virgin Islanders and thank them for their service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to duty. Their dedication reflects the very best of our territory, and we are honored to recognize their accomplishments and welcome them back home."
Lt. Governor Roach commended the soldiers for their conduct during the mission, noting the distinction their safe return brings to the territory. U.S. Army Brigadier General Christopher Creague and Major General Kodjo Knox-Limbacker, the Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands National Guard, presented commendations that emphasized the complex logistical work performed by movement control teams in active theater operations.
Farrell stressed that welcoming active-duty personnel home strengthens community support systems across the islands, particularly as the territory prepares for Veterans Day commemorations. The ceremony concluded with an official luncheon bringing together government representatives, military commanders, family, and community members.
