Two men arrested during a police operation in Fat Hogs Bay, East End, have been charged following the recovery of more than 547 kilograms of suspected cocaine, an AR-style rifle and ammunition.
On the morning of October 27, officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force executed a search warrant at a residence around 6:30 a.m. The operation yielded an AR-style rifle and 26 rounds of 5.62-calibre ammunition discovered at the property.
Police then located 19 duffle bags holding the suspected cocaine. The drugs carry an estimated street value in excess of $54 million.
Miller Se Quonne Moulon, aged 34, and Khalifa Turnbull, aged 26, were taken into custody at the scene. Each faces four charges: possession of a prohibited firearm, unlawful possession of explosives, possession of a controlled drug, and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. Both remain in police custody awaiting a Magistrate's Court appearance.
Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger called the operation a major success in the force's fight against serious and organised crime. He noted that the seizure reflected the RVIPF's resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks and keep illegal weapons off the streets.
The police force encouraged residents to report information about drug trafficking, illegal firearms or other criminal conduct to the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9512 or to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-8477.
