A 39-year-old Annas Retreat resident was arrested on the grounds of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School on Tuesday morning after a dispute with a companion escalated into a confrontation with police officers stationed there for voting security.
Albert Lindo III faces three misdemeanor charges: aggravated assault and battery upon a police officer, interfering with an officer discharging duties, and disturbance of the peace. He was brought before Magistrate Judge Julie Smith Todman on Wednesday at Barbel Plaza South for his advice of rights hearing.
The incident unfolded at approximately 9:36 a.m. on November 3 near the school's commercial trash collection area. Officers Travis Richardson, Clifford Callwood, and J'Moy Francis were assigned to the voting security detail when they received a radio report of a disturbance.
According to police records, Lindo and the complainant had been driving together when tensions flared inside the vehicle. Lindo allegedly seized the steering wheel and yanked it forcefully, creating a dangerous situation that nearly resulted in a head-on collision before the driver managed to pull over near the school's trash bins. The complainant also reported that Lindo had destroyed one of his cellphones and struck him without cause earlier that morning.
The complainant told investigators he had been working with Lindo on an independent trucking venture and had offered him shelter, but decided to end the arrangement following repeated outbursts.
When Officer Francis began interviewing the complainant, Lindo allegedly attempted to force his way past the officers to reach him. Despite repeated orders to stop, Lindo continued advancing. As officers escorted the complainant toward his vehicle to leave, Lindo moved toward the departing car. Officer Rey placed his hand on Lindo's chest to redirect him, while Officer Richardson positioned himself to block the path. Lindo then raised his hands and shoved Officer Richardson backward, a police affidavit states. Officers subdued him, forced him against a vehicle, and handcuffed him following a physical struggle in which Lindo resisted by twisting and pulling away.
At the Richard N. Callwood Command in Charlotte Amalie, Lindo continued shouting profanities, refused to cooperate with booking personnel, and repeatedly kicked his holding cell door, court documents indicate.
This arrest represents Lindo's second law enforcement contact in three months. In early August, he was arrested following an incident in Annas Retreat in which he allegedly used a machete to breach a duplex door lock, scattered clothing, and threw tools down porch stairs during what police characterized as a mental health crisis. He was released on an unsecured $1,000 bond with requirements to keep his job at Bobby's Trucking and report to probation twice weekly.
Assistant Attorney General Brenda Scales prosecuted the case, while Ryan Larose of the Office of the Territorial Public Defender represented Lindo. The magistrate found probable cause on all three counts and set bail at $2,000 cash only, declining a 10 percent deposit arrangement.
Lindo must remain on St. Thomas, report to probation twice weekly, maintain employment with Bobby's Trucking, refrain from alcohol and drugs, possess no weapons, and maintain a 20-foot distance from the complainant. His arraignment and preliminary examination are set for Friday, November 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom MG-3 at Barbel Plaza South.
