Jahnaya Christopher, a St. Croix resident under 30 who is studying health care, is organizing a free health fair on Saturday at Caribbean Cinemas. The event aims to give islanders access to preventive medical services and encourage them to monitor their health early.

The clinic will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Caribbean Cinemas parking lot and welcomes residents of any age. Visitors can receive STD testing, blood pressure measurement, glucose screening, and other routine vital-sign checks without charge.

Christopher, a former Central High School pupil, said the fair demonstrates her intention to apply her education toward advancing community wellness and supporting the island that raised her. "This event is about more than healthcare," she said. "It's about bringing people together, encouraging preventive care, and creating opportunities for our community to learn and grow."

The fair will combine medical services with a community atmosphere. Food vendors, clothing sellers, live entertainment, and raffle prizes for those who complete screenings will be on hand. Organizers believe mixing health resources with social activities will draw more participants and make medical care feel approachable rather than daunting.

For Christopher, the event represents a turning point in her personal growth and career path. She sees it as a chance to establish herself as someone committed to serving her community while she continues her health care studies.

Rather than postponing community work until she reaches an advanced stage of her career, Christopher believes she can create real change now through direct service and outreach. She intends to keep advancing her education while developing ongoing programs that offer resources and assistance to local residents.

She also hopes her work will motivate other young people to chase their ambitions while making positive contributions to their communities. "October 3rd represents growth, purpose, and community," she said. "I am excited to welcome everyone for a day of health awareness, connection, entertainment, and fun."
