A wave of robberies has prompted the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force to overhaul its street presence and operational approach, with Acting Commissioner Richard Ullger pledging to pursue those behind the crimes.
The force is intensifying investigations into recent incidents and deploying resources to track down suspects. Ullger recognised the anxiety gripping residents, particularly those who work extended hours or operate commercial premises.
"No one should have to feel unsafe in their workplace, home or community," Ullger said. "I want to assure the public that we are taking these matters seriously and remain focused on identifying those responsible and bringing them before the courts."
The RVIPF is mobilising all available capacity to counter the criminal activity and safeguard neighbourhoods across the Territory.
Police are directing business owners to audit their security setups, verify that recording equipment is operational, and adopt protective measures during opening and closing times. The force has also urged the public to report any suspicious behaviour without delay.
Authorities have warned against attempting to intervene with armed offenders, emphasising that staying safe must take precedence over confrontation.
People with knowledge of the robberies can reach the RVIPF Intelligence Unit in confidence at 368-9512, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 800-8477 (TIPS). The force pledged that all reports would be handled with strict confidentiality as investigations continue.
