The People's Leadership Movement (PLM) has launched a free lunch programme for eligible children at Francis Lettsome Primary School and Willard Wheatley Primary School in East End, Tortola, the party announced on September 22, 2026.

The initiative aims to ensure that no child goes hungry during the school day. PLM candidate for District 7 Kevon S. Lettsome said he witnessed families in the district struggling to afford meals for their children, and noted that hunger affects a child's ability to learn and participate in school.

Party leader Mark H. Vanterpool expressed support for the programme in a statement. Parents and guardians interested in learning more about eligibility and how to enrol their children can contact the PLM by phone or WhatsApp at +1 (284) 440-7556 or by email at [email protected]. The press release did not specify what conditions apply to the programme.

The launch comes two weeks after former Speaker Julian Willock and his Third District Committee donated a combined $3,000 to three schools. Ebenezer Thomas Primary School, The BVI Seventh-day Adventist School, and The St George's Secondary School, to provide meals to children without food during the current school semester. Willock's programme has no restrictions and is available to any child in need of a meal. He has said he plans to repeat the initiative for the January to June 2027 semester.
