A 15-year-old boy is missing after he and another teenager entered the water at a beach on Harbour Island in The Bahamas on Sunday evening, despite hazardous sea conditions.
Police said the two boys encountered severe difficulties in heavy wave conditions shortly before 7:00 p.m. One boy managed to return to shore, but the 15-year-old did not.
A search boat was dispatched but had to be suspended because of the dangerous seas. Police officers and community members also searched along the shoreline without success.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association have been alerted to the incident. Police said search efforts will resume as soon as weather conditions permit, and investigations are continuing.
