Residents of St. Thomas staged a march through downtown Charlotte Amalie on Thursday to raise awareness and show support for survivors of domestic violence.

The annual event began at Emile Griffith Ballpark and concluded in Emancipation Gardens. Representatives from the St. Thomas Family Resource Center participated in the march.

October is recognised nationally as Domestic Violence Month. Both the Women's Coalition of St. Croix and the Family Resource Center are encouraging residents to wear the colour purple in support of the cause.
