Liberty VI is working to bring fiber-optic broadband to 654 more households across St. Croix, with a target completion date of October 31.
Construction crews are laying aerial cables on existing utility poles in five residential areas: Estate Hope and Carlton, Sally's Fancy, Estate St. George and Estate Retreat. The company announced the project on October 14, though work had already begun by that time.
"We continue moving forward with our Fiber to the Home construction projects so more locations in the territory can have access to our fiber fast internet," Catherine Kling, general manager of Liberty VI, said in a statement.
Daily work runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., though schedules may shift based on conditions. Liberty has deployed traffic controls and safety measures in the areas affected, and residents should prepare for possible lane restrictions and temporary road closures, particularly on narrower streets where crews and machinery are present.
This project builds on an earlier initiative launched in March that targeted Cotton Valley and Sierra Verde, where 238 homes were slated to gain service. Across both St. Croix and St. Thomas combined, Liberty says its fiber program has already enabled more than 27,000 locations to access its broadband offerings. The company plans to post construction timelines online so residents can adjust their routines accordingly.
