CIBC Caribbean has presented its World Teachers' Day Recognition Award to two Virgin Islands educators, honouring their contributions to the territory's schools.

The recipients are Mrs Zubida K.H. O'Neal-George, Acting Principal at Ebenezer Thomas Primary School in Sea Cow's Bay, and Mr Alandell Williams, a mathematics teacher at Elmore Stoutt High School in Road Town. The presentations took place as part of the bank's World Teachers' Day celebration on October 5, 2026.

Fabian S. Devonish, Head of Country for CIBC Caribbean, said the awards recognised the many roles teachers play beyond the classroom. "Teaching is more than a profession. It is a commitment to shaping lives, building confidence, nurturing potential, and inspiring young people to believe in themselves and reach their full potential," Devonish said in a statement.

The bank used the occasion to acknowledge the wider teaching community across the territory. CIBC Caribbean noted that teachers serve as mentors, encouragers and trusted sources of support whose influence extends beyond academic achievement to shape students' confidence, character and aspirations.
