Thea LaFond-Gadson, who secured Dominica's first-ever Olympic medal at the 2024 Paris Games, has been named a recipient of an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies.
The UWI Council approved the honour in recognition of LaFond-Gadson's sporting achievements. She joins 12 other honorary graduands selected for 2026, whose collective recognition spans journalism, diplomacy, medicine, agriculture, law, public service, culture, sport and music.
The award marks another milestone in the growing list of national and international honours for the Olympic champion.
