The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has received the Nathan Dundas Cruise Port of the Year Award, recognising excellence in regional maritime operations.
The accolade was presented at the Caribbean Shipping Association's 56th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition, held in Georgetown, Guyana, from October 25 to 28, 2026. The award celebrates outstanding performance across infrastructure upgrades, efficiency, passenger experience, safety, security and environmental sustainability.
The timing marks a significant milestone: BVIPA is marking 35 years of service. Acting Managing Director Dean B. Fahie noted that the award reflects contributions from staff and partners across the organisation.
"This prestigious award reflects the dedication of our employees, the strength of our partnerships and our commitment to excellence. As we celebrate 35 years of service, this recognition reinforces our vision to continue transforming our ports and strengthening the Virgin Islands' position within the Caribbean maritime industry," Fahie said.
Board Chairperson Dion A. Stoutt described the recognition as evidence of the Authority's continuous improvement and commitment to maintaining high standards.
The award represents back-to-back regional honours for BVIPA. The organisation won the Caribbean Shipping Association's Ludlow Stewart Container Port of the Year Award in 2025, establishing itself as a leading performer in both cruise passenger and cargo operations across the Caribbean.
The Nathan Dundas prize, named for a late advocate of the region's cruise industry, is given to ports demonstrating strong dedication to developing and strengthening cruise services in the Caribbean.
