Trinidad police are searching for a 41-year-old man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a 32-year-old woman in broad daylight on September 26 in the El Socorro area of San Juan.

According to the woman's account to officers, she was walking along the road with her son when she spotted her former boyfriend approaching in a silver-grey Mitsubishi Lancer. Fearing danger, she and her son sought refuge in a nearby yard and asked the residents there to contact police. The man then exited his vehicle armed with a knife and forced the woman into the car at knifepoint, while her son remained with the homeowner.

The woman told investigators she was driven to an isolated location near Golconda, where she was assaulted. The suspect then took her to his residence in Lengua Village, Barrackpore, where she was assaulted a second time. He subsequently returned her to El Socorro and left her near her workplace around 3:00 p.m.

A bystander who witnessed the initial abduction notified police, who responded and searched the vicinity but could not find the vehicle. The woman, employed as a supermarket clerk, underwent medical examination at El Socorro Health Centre as part of the police investigation.

Officers from the Barataria Charge Room, Barataria Criminal Investigation Department, and the North Eastern Division Gang and Intelligence Unit met with the woman at her workplace to document her statement and collect additional details. Police continue to conduct operations to apprehend the suspect.
