Authorities in Trinidad and Tobago are treating the deaths of Rosanna Ramlal and her daughter Elena as a suspected double homicide following a residential fire in Malick, Barataria, on October 16.

The blaze erupted at a home on 7th Avenue shortly after noon. Ramlal, who worked as a doubles vendor, lived there with her family. Her husband operates Fats Doubles, a business located on Maraval Road in Port of Spain.

Investigators believe a close male relative deliberately ignited the fire, which then consumed the house rapidly. Police and fire personnel remained at the property through Friday afternoon as the investigation continued. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the full details of how the fire started or the exact sequence of events that led to the deaths. The inquiry is ongoing.
