The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College will present Jazz Noir: An Evening of Live Jazz on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium. The 7:00 p.m. show marks the second major production since the college revived its Performing Arts Series in March with a performance by Latin jazz icon Tito Puente Jr.
The evening will showcase Glenn Bryan & Friends, Blue Essence, the HLSCC Jazz Ensemble, the HLSCC Stingrays, and a special tap and jazz collaboration featuring Che Pemberton, with Trefor Grant as host.
Riiah Durante, Performing Arts Coordinator at HLSCC, explained the thinking behind the event's design. "The vision behind Jazz Noir was to create something that felt different from the typical concert experience," Durante said. "There is something timeless about jazz. It invites people to slow down, listen, connect, and simply enjoy being present in the moment."
The college has positioned the event as more than a concert: organisers describe it as a complete cultural experience blending music, setting, and artistry. Patrons are invited to dress in Jazz Noir Chic.
During the past two decades, the Performing Arts Series has functioned as a major cultural venue on Tortola, bringing together local emerging talent with established regional and international artists. Durante highlighted the importance of this mix. "The Virgin Islands is filled with incredible musicians, creatives, and performers, and one of the goals of the Performing Arts Series is to provide a stage where that talent can be celebrated," she said.
General admission costs $40; HLSCC students, faculty, and staff pay $25 with valid identification. A VIP Cocktail Experience is available for $250 and includes admission for up to two guests, a private cocktail seating area, artist meet-and-greet opportunities, complimentary wine, and gourmet hors d'oeuvres.
Tickets are sold online at events.hlscc.edu.vg, at J&C Trading in Road Town, and at the HLSCC Campus Store in Paraquita Bay.
