St. Kitts and Nevis has updated its travel restrictions in response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak, effective immediately.
Non-nationals who have visited the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Kenya, or Burundi within 21 days of their flight will be denied entry to the Federation. The ban applies even to passengers with intermediate stops in those countries who do not leave the aircraft.
Citizens and nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis are advised against non-essential travel to the six affected nations. Those who do return within 21 days of departure must undergo enhanced health screening at the port of entry and complete 21 days of self-quarantine.
The Ebola Virus Disease outbreak remains classified as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization, driven by its high fatality rate, ongoing transmission, and expanding geographic reach. The government said it has been monitoring the situation and coordinating with the Caribbean Public Health Agency, the US Centers for Disease Control, and the WHO to inform its response.
The Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Health said they are strengthening border surveillance and national preparedness measures. The advisory will remain in place until there is significant improvement in the Ebola situation.
