Reba Evans has been selected as the inaugural BVI Ports Authority Ambassador, the organisation announced during its 35th Anniversary Gala on October 3, 2026.
In her new role, Evans will attend selected conferences, events and engagements on behalf of the Ports Authority throughout the year, working to raise the organisation's profile and deepen community connections. She received an all-expenses-paid cruise for two as part of the honour.
The ambassador appointment capped a week of milestone celebrations by the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority. The festivities began with PortVision Conference 2026, held October 1-2 at Maria's by the Sea in Port Purcell. The inaugural two-day gathering brought together maritime industry leaders, government officials, regional port operators, professionals and business representatives under the banner "Innovation and Sustainability in Seaport Operations."
Attendees examined how ports serve as economic drivers and discussed key priorities for the Territory's seaport future: innovation, technology, security, tourism, customer experience, trade, business development, resilience and sustainability. The Ports Authority created PortVision as a forum where stakeholders could share knowledge, exchange ideas and spot opportunities to strengthen the Territory's seaport operations.
The 35th Anniversary Gala, held at Prime Restaurant on October 3, also paid tribute to two retired leaders. Gene E. Creque, who previously served as Deputy Managing Director, and Myrthlyn Hodge, former Financial Comptroller, received recognition for their roles in building and advancing the Authority over its 35-year history.
The Ports Authority said the new Ambassador initiative expands its community engagement strategy and positions Evans as a visible representative of the BVIPA brand.
