Mozart Peters, known locally as "Dexter," went missing on August 17, 2026, and remains absent more than six weeks later. The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has kept up an intensive search across Tortola, mobilising officers from multiple divisions and enlisting backing from a range of outside bodies.
The effort has drawn in the Department of Disaster Management, Immigration personnel, the St. John's Rescue Team and other organisations, alongside volunteer groups, residents and family members. Despite these coordinated operations across numerous sites on the island, Peters has not been found.
Investigators are continuing to work through incoming information, follow up on leads and examine evidence as they seek to establish his current location.
Peters is around 5 feet 5 inches in height, with a dark complexion and a stocky frame. He was wearing a white vest, light-blue underpants and no shoes when last observed.
The police force is calling on anyone in the community to step forward with details. "Anyone who may have seen Mr. Peters, believes they may have encountered him since his disappearance, or has information that could assist investigators is urged to come forward immediately," the force said. Those with information can reach 311, visit their nearest police station, or speak to any officer with the RVIPF.
