A man is hospitalized in critical condition at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital following a shooting in the Profit Hills section of St. Croix on Friday afternoon, police said.
The Virgin Islands Police Department's 911 Emergency Call Center fielded multiple reports starting around 5:53 p.m. on October 2, 2026, that a male had been shot. Officers and Emergency Medical Technicians reached the scene near a private residence in Estate Profit and found the victim bearing gunshot injuries concentrated in his upper body.
First responders delivered emergency trauma treatment at the location before transporting him by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center. He underwent urgent surgical intervention upon arrival. As of Friday evening, his condition remained critical, police confirmed.
The victim's name and age have not been disclosed pending notification of family members and completion of medical assessment.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating. Police are asking residents who were in the Profit Hills area Friday afternoon and may have witnessed suspicious activity, vehicles or people leaving the scene to report what they saw.
