A St. Croix man has received a 25-year prison sentence for the May 2020 murder of 19-year-old Selena Chitolie. Judge Alphonso Andrews Jr. of V.I. Superior Court handed down the sentence on October 8, 2026, after Brewley entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder in May 2024.
Chitolie died from injuries sustained during a shooting on May 15, 2020, in Estate Paradise near Frederiksted. She was driving a white Chevrolet through the Mount Pleasant area with her mother, Nissa Camacho, and younger brother when gunmen in a silver Ford Focus fired on the vehicle. Chitolie was struck in the back of her neck and airlifted for treatment but succumbed to her wounds nearly two weeks later. Her mother was also shot in the neck and continues to carry a bullet fragment from the attack. The younger brother was not hit.
Brewley and co-defendant Jiovani Smith were taken into custody on May 15, 2020, initially facing attempted murder charges. Following Chitolie's death, both men were arrested again on March 19, 2021, and charged with first-degree murder. Smith also entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and received a 30-year sentence in September 2024.
Two other individuals remain connected to the case. Jerome Wallace III has a motion to dismiss pending before the court, which has not yet ruled. Maynard Caliquan, who was a minor when the shooting occurred, remains involved in the proceedings, though the Department of Justice has not provided updates on his status.
