The VI Field Archery Federation will host its second annual indoor archery championship on October 3, 4 at the Multi-Purpose Complex in Road Town, drawing thirty qualified competitors across four Caribbean territories.
Athletes from the British Virgin Islands, United States Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago will take part in the David Abednego Cup National Indoor Championship. The field spans age groups from Cubs through Veterans, competing in multiple styles, divisions and categories of field archery.
Each competitor will fire 120 arrows over the two days, with competition running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. The challenge tests accuracy, consistency, concentration and performance under pressure.
This year marks the USVI's first appearance at the event. Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago are returning after taking part in last year's inaugural championship. The federation has implemented a new qualification standard for all entrants, which it says strengthens the overall competitiveness of the field.
David Abednego of Harbour Chambers is the championship's main sponsor and namesake. The federation has stressed that backing from the business community remains vital to growing competitive archery in the territory.
Admission is free. The federation is inviting families, sports fans and the general public to attend and support both local and visiting archers.
