Residents of the Third District are invited to a major recruitment drive this Sunday, October 25, running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Therapy Works Compound in Hannah Bay, Tortola.
Former Speaker Julian Willock and the Third District Committee are organising the event, which has now reached its fifth year. Willock characterised the fair as the "most popular job fair" in the Virgin Islands, with prominent territory employers expected to bring available positions.
Participating organisations span both the private sector and government agencies: Biras Creek, Scrub Island, Rite Way Food Markets, Nanny Cay Resort, Caribbean Cellars, Little Dix Bay Hotel, Peter Island Resort, the BVI Airports Authority, the BVI Health Services Authority, SOL (BVI) Ltd., and the BVI Ports Authority, among others.
Willock is calling on District Three residents to bring current resumes and prepare for on-site interviews that may lead to job offers. The National Health Insurance and Social Security Board will attend to discuss contributions and benefits. Support will also come from the Trade and Consumer Affairs Department and the Department of Labour and Workforce Development.
Over four years, the initiative has placed more than 25 residents into lasting employment roles. Willock framed the effort as part of "our continued efforts on our journey to empower our people". He emphasised that the Trade Department's participation reflects a dual commitment: backing conventional employment while fostering entrepreneurial ventures among residents.
Sponsors include Nanny Cay Marina, Tortola Auto Group, One Stop Mall, Asif Backhoe Services, Long Bay Beach Resort, Biras Creek Resort, Digicel, Pirates Bight Restaurant & Bar, and Ricky's 24-Hour Trucking and Sewage Disposal.
