A man faces domestic violence charges after his partner's family, listening remotely from California, heard a heated confrontation and contacted emergency services early Thursday at the Questa Verde Condominiums in Christiansted, St. Croix.

Robert Wolf, 26, was arrested and booked on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and battery and disturbance of the peace following the incident at the gated complex.

The sequence of events began just after 12:45 a.m. on October 15 when a 911 call came in from a parent in California. The caller had been on an open FaceTime audio connection with their daughter and reported hearing an erratic, escalating 45-minute dispute involving shouting, profanity, and slamming doors that raised safety concerns.

When officers arrived around 1:00 a.m., the woman told them that Wolf, her live-in boyfriend and caregiver, had begun aggressively questioning her about past acquaintances without foundation. She asked him to stay in the living room and let her rest, but he repeatedly entered the bedroom while screaming profanities as her family monitored the situation over iPad audio.

The dispute turned physical when Wolf entered the room, grabbed the woman by her arms, and shook her forcefully while she sat in her wheelchair. Both fell to the floor, and Wolf then allegedly held her down, intensifying pain from pre-existing injuries on her left side, according to court documents.

When police questioned Wolf, he claimed he was attempting to help his partner through an emotional crisis. He denied striking her but acknowledged throwing a pillow during the argument.

Based on witness accounts gathered at the scene and statements from family members who heard the confrontation remotely, officers took Wolf into custody. He was transported to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility at Golden Grove and held without bail under the territory's mandatory domestic violence detention rules.

Wolf was scheduled to appear before Superior Court Magistrate Judge Christopher M. Timmons on Friday morning. Police records indicate he has prior arrests.

People experiencing domestic violence can contact the Women's Coalition of St. Croix crisis line at (340) 773-9272 around the clock, or call 911 for immediate assistance.
