The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation and the Office of the Deputy Governor have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bring BVIEC staff into the Government's Customer Service Programme, a key pillar of the territory's Public Service Transformation initiative.

The agreement, signed on 30 September, will create structured pathways for BVIEC employees to receive training through the same tools and standards used across the public service. Permanent Secretary Sharleen DaBreo-Lettsome, MBE signed on behalf of the Deputy Governor's office, while BVIEC General Manager Dr. Neil Smith signed for the corporation.

At the heart of the partnership is a Customer Service Learning Attachment Programme. BVIEC staff will spend approximately six weeks at the Government's Customer Service Care Centre, placed individually or in small groups over the twelve-month term of the agreement. During their attachments, participants will gain hands-on experience in customer engagement, complaint handling, service recovery, contact centre operations, quality assurance and performance monitoring.

Employees may also access additional training and professional development through the Virgin Islands Public Service Learning Institute where available.

PS DaBreo-Lettsome said the initiative reflects the Government's confidence in the Customer Service Programme, which she described as having reached world standard. Dr. Smith called the partnership a much-needed step for BVIEC and said he anticipated seeing results across the corporation's operating arms.

The Office of the Deputy Governor has made customer service training one of four priority areas for Public Service Transformation, aiming to deliver a modern, people-centric approach to service delivery across the territory.
