The Government of the Virgin Islands has unveiled refreshed application forms intended to accelerate Crown land processing, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change said on Friday.
The revised forms address requests spanning residential grants, commercial land leases, reclamations, jetties and breakwater structures. Applicants can complete them electronically on computers or request printed versions from the ministry office.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Ronald Berkeley noted that the forms aim to make the application process less complex and broaden access to Crown Land. He cautioned that filing an application does not ensure approval. Chief Lands Officer Heather Skelton stressed that the forms lay out precisely what information and documents are needed, which should cut down on incomplete filings and accelerate how quickly applications move through the system.
The step aligns with the Crown Lands Management Act, which became law on 31 January 2025. Crown Land can be sold to residents for housing or rented to enterprises for business activities.
Deputy Premier Julian Fraser, who oversees the environment ministry, backed the initiative as part of efforts to lift administrative performance. The ministry has asked applicants to examine the requirements closely and include all supporting documents when submitting to help ensure faster handling.
The forms and further details are available on the ministry website at gov.vg.
