The Government of the Virgin Islands has introduced VI Talent Connect, a recruitment initiative overseen by the Department of Human Resources aimed at drawing qualified Virgin Islanders and Belongers into senior and hard-to-fill positions throughout the public sector.
The scheme will establish and sustain a talent pool comprising professionals, students and graduates whose capabilities and background match the government's current and anticipated staffing requirements. Through targeted outreach, direct engagement and coordinated support, the programme seeks to strengthen hiring for critical, senior, specialised and priority roles.
Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor Mrs. Sharleen DaBreo-Lettsome, MBE explained that the initiative opens direct routes for qualified Virgin Islanders, both those living abroad and those at home, to enter the public sector and contribute to the Territory's development. She noted that as public servants move toward retirement, the government must actively work to identify vacancies and reach out to Virgin Islanders and Belongers who have built expertise either overseas or locally.
Acting Deputy Director of Human Resources Ms. Cara Christopher highlighted that the programme recognises highly skilled professionals do not always seek jobs when openings arise. The Department of Human Resources intends to link candidates with opportunities through ongoing contact and assistance from initial outreach through their first working day.
Candidates will receive clearer details on career paths, hiring standards, pay and benefits packages. Those considering a return to the Territory will also access practical guidance on relocation.
Qualified Virgin Islanders can submit applications for advertised positions via gov.vg/service-details/government-employment-opportunities or reach out to the Department of Human Resources or the Customer Service Care Centre to learn about current and future openings.
