Officials from the British Virgin Islands travelled to New York City this week to represent the territory at an international investment conference running through September 26.
Junior Minister for Financial Services and Economic Development Lorna G. Smith, OBE (AL), headed the delegation, joined by Elise Donovan, CEO of BVI Finance, and Christopher Simpson, Partner and Head of the Commercial Department at O'Neal Webster and a member of the BVI Finance Board of Directors.
The 2026 Outbound Investment Summit brought together financial advisers, intermediaries and service providers working in cross-border business and wealth planning. Donovan took the stage to address participants during the three-day event.
BVI Finance served as a Silver Sponsor of the conference, which aims to help professionals understand international investment solutions, identify client requirements and forge connections across different jurisdictions. The summit creates a platform for overseas service providers to link with local intermediary firms seeking to support the globalisation of corporate and personal wealth structures.
The delegation used the forum to outline how the BVI facilitates international business and offers structures recognised globally for clients operating across multiple markets. Officials said the summit provided a chance to strengthen ties with international intermediaries, expand relationships with both new and established partners, and reinforce the territory's position as a major international finance centre.
