The Government of the Virgin Islands has unveiled VI Talent Connect, a recruitment initiative managed by the Department of Human Resources to attract qualified Virgin Islanders and Belongers into leadership and difficult-to-fill positions across the Public Service.
The scheme will develop a talent pool of professionals, students and graduates whose expertise meets the government's current and future staffing demands. It combines focused recruitment, direct engagement and structured support for critical, senior, specialised and priority vacancies.
Sharleen DaBreo-Lettsome, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor, said the programme opens pathways for qualified Virgin Islanders both overseas and within the Territory to enter the Public Service. She noted that as retirements increase across government, "it is increasingly important that we take the necessary strides to ensure qualified Virgin Islanders and Belongers have the opportunity to step into key roles in the Public Service."
Cara Christopher, Acting Deputy Director of Human Resources, explained that the initiative recognises many skilled professionals are not job-hunting when positions become available. The Department aims to connect candidates with opportunities through "an efficiently designed system that prioritises continuous communication, support and assistance from first contact to the first day on the job."
The programme will supply candidates with detailed information on career paths, qualifications needed, pay and benefits. Those interested in returning to the Territory will receive guidance on relocation.
Qualified Virgin Islanders can apply for advertised positions at gov.vg/service-details/government-employment-opportunities or contact the Department of Human Resources for details on current and upcoming vacancies.
