The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Bar Association has named J'Nae Janiqué Hopkins of the British Virgin Islands as a 2026 Nicole Sylvester Memorial Scholarship recipient. She will share the honour with Jessica Zouetr of Antigua and Barbuda.
Hopkins works in the Civil Division of the Attorney General's Chambers as Crown Counsel. The award funds her attendance at the Annual Regional Law Conference and recognises professional excellence, community involvement and bar association participation.
She gained admission to practise before the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in 2022. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws with honours from The University of the West Indies and a Legal Education Certificate from the Eugene Dupuch Law School. She is currently studying for a Master of Laws in Public Law at UWI's Mona Campus.
The OECS Bar Association describes Hopkins as having built expertise in public law while maintaining strong commitment to public service and professional growth. The scholarships target young lawyers who combine professional achievement with dedication to their communities and the legal profession.
The award memorialises Nicole O.M. Sylvester, who served as the youngest and first female president of the OECS Bar Association before her death in 2015. Sylvester created the first Law Fair, later renamed the Law Conference, and oversaw its first nine years.
