A 21-year-old man appeared in St. Croix Superior Court on Wednesday and was ordered held on a $1,000,000 cash bail following his arrest on an outstanding warrant.
Kaden Durand, also known as Kadeem Christian "C.D." Durand, was taken into custody on October 13 after an investigation led by the Virgin Islands Police Department and territorial prosecutors. He faces 17 criminal charges spanning murder in the first degree, assault with intent to commit murder in the first degree, robbery offences, assault with a deadly weapon, unlicensed firearm possession, ammunition possession, reckless endangerment and grand larceny.
Magistrate Christopher M. Timmons Sr. found probable cause supporting all charges during the hearing in Courtroom 214 at the R.H. Amphlett Leader Justice Center. Under Virgin Islands law, a conviction on the first-degree murder charge alone would result in a mandatory sentence of natural life imprisonment with no possibility of parole.
The bail order requires the full $1,000,000 to be paid in cash directly to the court clerk, a stricter condition than typical arrangements that permit a percentage deposit or property liens. Should the bail be posted, Durand would be subject to 24-hour house arrest with GPS electronic monitoring and must reside in an approved custodian's home as determined by the court.
Public Defender Leslie Davis was assigned to the case after Durand was found to be indigent. The matter has been placed on Track 4, which allows 360 days to reach a final outcome. Superior Court Judge Yvette Ross-Edwards is overseeing the case. A Discovery Conference has been scheduled for February 11, 2027, at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 214.
Durand was arrested alongside co-defendant Jah'Sheem Graham. His apprehension drew public attention across the territory, with community members alleging he was connected to multiple homicides.
